Is vBSEO really worth the money, and does it do what it says?

I read an article which it showed the results, and they didn't really improve. If I find it, I'll post it here.

I've heard both horror stories and success stories... and as an experienced SEO, I am still a bit weary of vbSEO's setup. While it certainly adds a lot of the fundamental features of SEO to your forums, it also goes a little beyond and has not shown itself as foolproof yet, from what I have read in reviews and testimonials.

Honestly, I would think that because vBulletin is such a standard in forum software, that Google, Yahoo, msn, etc have some sort of vBulletin filter of some sort, recognizing posts from vBulletin forums, phpBB, and the like. I can't imagine that there is not some vB filters in the algo's. So if there indeed are, default vB content is probably just as good as any customized/optimized content. The SE's most likely know exactly what it is and where it came from.

IMO, there is no concrete evidence that vBSEO works, so why should I get it?

The reason it gets a lot of hate is because people think it will make them a lot of money and their forum a raging success.

Unless you truly understand SEO you probably just won't get what vBSEO is about.

The times I have laughed my head off where vBSEO buyers complain that it didn't increase their PageRank, idiots.

It is but one piece of the successful forum puzzle.

You need lots of incoming links, good content, a nice design, good MODs, good articles & guides and on and on.

I use it and like it, it makes my life a hell of a lot easier, it does what it's meant to very well.

Also any kind of SEO takes years, if it were instant the spammers would run riot.

So when people install it and don't see results fast they blame vBSEO when they should be blaming Google's algorithm.
