I Administrate a very small (27 member) political forum, and my question is how beneficial is it to have the "Instant email notification" turned on? That feature that e-mails you everytime someone replies to your post. What are the pros and cons of this feature? Does anyone not like this feature turned on?
I would love to heard input from as many people as possible about this topic and what people prefer, having the Instant email notification on or off? |

Here we have it on by default and have edited the template so the post text is NOT included.

I like it because it lets the member know they have a reply which will probably make them visit, also not having the post text in the email forces them to visit to read the reply. This helps traffic and advertising revenue. My System: Hybr!d

Considering the core point of the forum (opinionated people, feelings running high etc) they'll more than likely want to know straight away so they can post back.
I say leave it on.

They can always disable it in their own user CP anyway.

![]() I would/do want it on. If I ask or answer a question, it is much easier to be notified when there is a new reply rather than having to continually check back in on the post. Some forums have a requirement that you be subscribed to any post you are responding in. |
