I have recently opened a new website, and I wondered if anyone knew how to build a PHP/ASP/Java webmail system. Or if no one does, if there was a free copyright-free, customisable, ad-free one?

There are plenty of opensource webmail system if you google for them.

Try Squirelmail, that is one I have used before.

The majority of good webhosts give you a free webmail program - look at your control panel more closely. Building one your self is insane unless you are a programmer hoping to sell it!

indeed look at your cpanel, most of them use the whm cpanel and offer squirrel mail and horde webmail services you can also have the emails come through a desktop mail client like i have done with my website
