Default What speed do you have?

As the topic title says, What Connection speed do you have?

I have a 2MB connection, which we call BroadBand over here in the UK. I had a dial-up untill about 2 years ago. This new connection is so helpful, for downloading. The main advantage is the fact that you can play Online Games, lag free!

I have a 2mb connection but my ISP has a too strict usage policy so most the time my speed is no where near that mark. I am migrating to a different ISP and getting a 10mb connection, and I can't wait for that!

Woah! 10MB.. one can only dream. What speeds do you usually get when downloading? I only ever get maximum one tenth of my actual speed. The highest speed that I have recorded my computer going at is about 150kb/s.

Does 10MB go faster than this?

Its around 1,500kb/s depending on the speed of the server im downloading from.

If you only get 1/10th.... are you on about P2P file sharing? You will never get full speed using those things, they are dependant on the speed of people uploading. Most normal internet upload speed are set around 2-30kb/s. So if someone can only give you 30kb/s you wont download any faster.

Yeah, I am on about that.

But what were you talking about when you mentioned the 1.5MB speeds? I am curious to see what you must be downloading to get such big speeds! Everything must download in a matter of seconds. As I said before.. one can only dream :(

I find speeds are really slow with P2P clients, but I find that if I download something from the Internet, liek lately I have been downloading free flash games to use on a site that I am a admin on. Well the speeds are fantastic I can download them solid at 200kibs, basically that's the best I ever get out of my connection!
