New search engine on the block. It's like nothing you've ever seen before!

Wolfram Alpha Knowledge search engine will be launched today, Friday, May 15, beginning at 7pm CST. (so far they are late in launching it)

A screencast showing what it's capable of is here. (You might need to use IE to view it)

Now this is one geeky search engine LOL.

Uh oh....

Full story. Wolfram Alpha's launch delayed amid glitches - May 15, 2009 6:03 PM PDT

Quote:
After initially claiming that the service would go live Friday evening, Wolfram lowered expectations by only promising a test launch over the weekend, with full service expected by Monday.

It's live!

The first word I put in was malware and I got this message. "Interpreting "malware" as "makware" Needless to say I got nothing that had to do with computer virus.

I think malware is a computer term and not an actual English word so it looks like there are issues on searching acronyms and words created by the internet.

Lot's of potential but it is Wolfram Alpha so there is definitely some work to do.

It's very interesting and I would imagine one hell of a project to work on. I read somewhere that it has taken years just to get it to where it is now. Might take years more to get it right!

I don't see it re-inventing the internet search engines but for some I'm sure it will be very useful.

Painfully slow at my end, but maybe that's because everyone is giving it a try.
