On a mass scale maybe, but hardware dongles have been used with applications for yonks and the crackers get round them too.

Ask your self these questions ......

What Software, Games Console or PC, has not been cracked ?
What DVD or music CD protection has not been defeated ?
... even Blu-Ray's new BD+ protection has been cracked and Newsgroups are awash with all sorts of HD content. This was quoted to be "Unbreakable for 10 years" by Sony.

Sony and other big Music & Movie Producers spend billions on research, in the hope of perfecting an uncrackable protection system, but at best, all they can hope for, is to slow things down for a few months, until the crackers get on top again.

Most of the new Games consoles are exploited within a month of release, with software or hardware mods & chips and there is a large "Cottage Industry" in modifying hardware, to overcome the protection methods used.

The big companies will always quote their new attempts as uncrackable, but the evidence to date shows different, so don't believe all you read

like what many of you already said, i think as of right now anything for the pc is crackable. everything ranging from games,to music and movies, to very expensive software (virtual dj, photoshop, nero), and even operating systems have been cracked. there are ways now-a-days to get anything (thats not hardware) for free on a pc. its a major issue among nearly every company thats pc related. though i doubt its an issue thats gonna solved anytime soon...
