Mmmmm.... Elite..... You can also get it for Windows - there are a number of emulators around, with varying levels of accuracy (I lost a couple of days solid earlier this year playing "Elite the New Kind" before I deleted it back off my computer...)

For games that I come back to again and again, Worms (particularly the original and World Party) can't be beaten. I'm also a sucker for Theme Hospital, even though I can now complete it in my sleep...

I played elite a lot.... there is even a Linux variant called OOlite, which is pretty dang good :-)

How about HALO, I love the storyline :-) It's a shame it runs very very slow on my Linux box. Even with Cedega it still is pretty bad.

I found the dawn of war games to be a little too fast paced, tanks would plow across the battlefield like drag cars. There was also no limit on things you could build, so dreadnoughts (which in the table top game are very rare object) would be built loads and loads and just stomp around everywhere.

Granted they were great fun and visually impressive, i just felt the game could of had a more serious approach to some aspects.

I used to love playing the first medieval total war game. Although i did find it frustrating that you couldnt march your army through an ally's territory and as was classed as a act of war, so you were buggered unless you started a crusade

definetly company of heroes, anyone who likes strategy/wargames get it!! it is a microsoft game as wel so works good with your computer...football manager is another amazing game and battlefield 2, so is battlestations midway at that

i got battlefield 2142, which i play mostly, is battlefield 2 really as good as everyone says, im thinking of getting it, only for online though, battlefield games are boring offline in my opinion

also supreme commander and cnc3 are class, but cnc3 missions i found abit short i dunno, didnt take long to finish, and that nod women (cnc3 players will know who i mean) she really irritates me for some reason

my vote gores to 2142 until proven otherwise

mrdaveyk, i keep basically all my usernames the same, ill forget otherwise hehe

the only problem i have with bf2142 mind is sometimes the maps, thy are huge which is great but there is very little team work half the time, theres a server called squad play which is good cuz you get kicked if your not in a squad. i may get bf2 mind just to have a game with modern weapons, on that note css and dods, i play these when i got a few minutes to do nothing. but its a shame dods and ccs were just upgrades on graphics, shoulda introduced new weapons and perhaps vehicles in dod s atleast, but on topic, i wouldnt say ccs and dods will ever qualify as a top game, its too limited
