Default BF2 very laggy

I've been playing BF2 for a long time. but never got over the fact that it simply lags to much and glitches. I never knew why BF2 lags so much, tried everything i can think of to make it faster, i guess its just a bad game thats very overrated...

anyway to make it faster

i have a nvidia7600GT 256mb ram
and i have 1.5gb of ram

all my graphics settings are high and i changed my punkbuster check time to 500 seconds. any tips???

Explain how it lags?
Download fraps here and see how many FPS you are getting
It could be a number of things

What resolution are you running it at
Check fraps for fps
What speed internet connection do you have

I will try lowering my graphics settings but all my other games including half life 2, TF2, HL2 EP1, 2, Counter Strike Source, GTA SA, Call of Duty 2. they are all on high and work perfectly fine.

Also, my BF2 works pretty good when i make a local game within my network. but messes up online

usually my ping is around 60-100, i cant find anything lower with an actual game, there all vacant.

well for starters it's socialwarfare, not socialwalefar. And second of all, with atlest 30 FPS you won't notice much after that. And if it only happens online it will be a connection issue. As your ping isn't to bad (anything below 100 is usually playable) it might be something wrong with the server.

What is your internet speed, I would say that is the trouble
The reason BF2 works well locally is because there is little to no traffic
I would stick to the smaller maps 16-32.....stay away from the 64's if your connection isn't that good
