Default BluRay

One of the unique selling points of the PlayStation 3 is the fact that it will run on a disc - the BluRay. This is also the reason that the release was delayed, the reader of the disc was corrupt in a way so they had to re-design it.

The disk will hold something like 70GB, imagine the detail of the game to be that huge! To put that into perspective: the best PC game at the moment is about 8GB!

It's over kill for a game it does need more memory for more 3D shapes and texturemaps. Really the Blu-Ray is for the HD films. With Blu-Rays standard 50 GB, game enviroments can be much larger a battle field 1000 miles square but is the hardware going to cope with that and can developers afford to spend six times as long making a game.
