Default Built a computer for gaming.

Not the usual gaming build. I only became involved with computers in Jan 2005 when I got my first. So there I was straight into Win XP. About six months later I started building machines, at first with cheap used parts from Ebay, then when I was confident enough, I started with new components. I was also installing Win 98 just for the experience. A few months ago I got copies (not copied but examples) of FS 2000 and Sega Rally which were only compatable with 98 so, what I was saying at the start, I built a computer for these games. Using only used parts the specs are; Celeron 1.7Ghz, Asus P4VP-MX,12Gb HD, 256Mb PC133 RAM, CD and floppy drives and Win 98SE. Works like a dream, starts up quickly and closes down in a flash. Things couldn't have been too bad in Win 98 days.

It was a good operating system for it's time but I wouldn't reccomend the use of it now. Windows ME wasn't hugely different from 98 and it crashed all the time.

I've been using XP since it was in beta and I've always been happy with it, no doubt it improved with the service packs and updates but I've never had any real issues with it. The odd virus has caused problems but thats what anti-virus software is for! Norton, McAffe etc.
