I think he/she means can you save the file to the console rather to the cartridge. However I think that is impossible to do, however you could save the game to a action replay.

The gamesave should save directly to the GBA cartridge and have non problem whatsoever.

Unless you mean something other than saving you game, then yes you can, since its saved on the cartridge and has nothing to do with the system you use.

Games for gameboy and DS don't save directly ON the DS. They save onto the game cartridge so you're safe.

I just got a copy of leaf green to play on my DS. However, when I start the game it says "no 1m subcircuit board installed" and goes to the new game set up section. Once I started the game, whenever I have tried to save it says "save error" so I have to restart my game any time I want to turn off my DS. Which basically means I wasted my money. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Is it just a defective cartridge or something? I bought it used, so I'm worried I got screwed, but I don't want to make any accusations if it's not their fault.

That's a weird error, I've never heard of it before. Since you said your cart is used, I would suspect that it is the cartridge.

I've seen this sort of thing before, sadly there is a lot of fake games being sold on the net mainly ebay and some end up in second hand shops because people cannot bare them any longer. This message comes up in fake cartridges because they've copied on to their own type of forged cartridge which in this case misses the components needed to run the game inside it.
