Default Computer problems while gaming?

Ok, after so many months of my PC messing up during gameplay on almost every game i own, i am really really really starting to get seriously annoyed.

Everything i have tried to sort it hasn't worked and i have absoloutley no idea wtf is up with it.

When im playing a game, usually WoW or CoD4, after some time my PC screws up. The screen goes black, the sound goes off, but the computer itself stays on, just nothing responds. I don't think its overheating, as i cleaned out the fan, took off the casing, tested the temperature, and even used an extra fan to blast some air into it. Still didn't fix.

Could be that it's quite an old system? I dunno, had it for about 3 years and never had any problems until i bought WoW/CoD4.

I read on the internet that it could be the power supply? Tbh i don't have a clue about computers and the stuff inside em.

You can see my gaming rig here: http://www.xfire.com/profile/pnut1991 but i dont know if that will be of any use.

Any feedback is appreciated

Well your proccessor and your graphics card are a little out dated. The proccessor shouldn't be causing it, it may have a little something to do with it but its not that bad. I would say your main problem is your graphics card. It could be dying or its to old to run the game. Ok well your processor and your graphics card meet the minimum requirements for cod4. It says you should have a 6600 or better.
Since your computer is freezing up while playing the games I am gonna say that your card is dying. Do you have any other games you play and does it do the same thing on those games?

Don't play it anymore, but it used to happen on Battlefield 2142, and it did it once or twice on Battlefield 2. Oh yeah, it also did it on the Quakewars demo.

Thats all i can think of at the moment.

Thanks for the reply.

Ya I think your card is dying. Either that or its not getting enough power. What kind of PSU do you have? It could also be you PSU. Its hard to figure these kind of things out. If you got the money I would get a new card and see if that fixes your problem. Or if you can get a hold of a friends card that you know works try it out and see what happens.
Actually first though is all your drivers updated?

I disagree. If it's dying under high-power conditions it's the PSU no question.

All drivers are updated and I'd have to get back to you, perhaps tomorrow, on the PSU info.

Another thing i noticed, over the past few weeks these restarts have been getting worse, and my computer is much much louder, and sounds as if it's struggling to even stay powered up.

Thanks for the replies
