hi guys just finished FEAR yet again and am totally disappionted ( and feel let down, think they just gave up ) with the last two levels and end scene. so was just wondering what ending to a game, has, you feel, let you down for being total crap or pointless and left you feeling "thats it"?

One doesn't spring to mind readily Redden. It's more film endings for me.

To be honest I'm generally not interested in the story lines for games. They're just there pretty much because they have to be and are usually afterthoughts.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to get a decent ending, like in Halo and Halo 3, and different endings dependent on which difficulty you've completed the games on. Again Halo and Halo 3. (Couldn't be bothered completing Halo 2 in Legendary).

I too play the game to get to the end, but I don't just want to get to the end to see the ending.

prey....the ending was bizzare and unsatisfactory. basically, you kill the boss, and fly a space ship into the sun. then you end up back on earth totally fine, and learn there's going to be a sequel. it was pretty dumb i have to say....

prey was up there m8, another bad ending when they could done more, but still think fear was the worst as it had some great levels

have you played all of them? just cuz a game ends doesn't mean its finished. there are 3 fear out. 4th soon to come. I play for both story line and game play. that's why I'm so picky on the games i want. but fear is still one of my favorite game series of all time.

cheesepuff im not asking how a series of games finish, just the one game when youve finished it, watched the ending and you think " thats it " as we all know if a game is successful there will be sequels

even with books theres sequels look at the harry potter series,
and what your basically saying is that you cant judge any one of the endings ( each a full story) untill youve read the last book.

I played the last level of Call of Duty 4 at 4 AM with little sleep. It was funny, because I was so tired that it was almost completely immersive, almost like a dream. Running around at 60mph in the back of a truck shooting guys out of troops in that sort of environment made it easily the best game ending I've ever played, but probably solely because of that experience. It was great, but I wouldn't have rated it even close to as high had I not actually felt like I was in the game.

I can't really think of any crappy game endings lately though. I thought Portal's ending was pretty tacked on, but that didn't make it that bad. Of course, I've been playing mostly MP only games lately, so I guess that's why.

i have read the question, and what I'm saying is just cuz the game is over doesn't mean the story is. i have owned the game for about 3-4 years now. i love the game. the endings suck due to how it ends but there is a reason for that. a sequel. when one comes out you all like, "oh snap! another! sweet!" its designed to make you think there's no way they can make another and then when one comes out you get all exited about it. there's a method to their madness.

that's exactly what I'm saying. this doesn't apply to the game play, just the story. its not utter crap. one doesn't have a right to judge unless one has all the info to do so. if not than its just opinion. fear and fear xp are not like the harry potter series. they are not 2 different plots and story lines. fear on the other hand has fear xp take place right where you left off. nothing in between. that's why i say its 1 story, not 2. that, and its what we call and expansion pack. it adds on. i only talk of fear in this conversation. I'm a die hard fear fan man.

well mate, I'm saying play the other ones. you wont feel so let down and disappointed. i felt the same way as you before i got the 2nd one. its not really a sequel, more of a follow up. plus you ask what games make us feel like it had a bad ending

my argument is not that it has a bad ending, its that the game fear never ended in the first place. Thus fear xp told the rest of the story. think of both parts as 1 game (which in reality it is(that and xp needs the 1st to play it anyway)) what you "think" is the ending is no where near the ending. it doesn't stop in the middle. there for your starting argument should be said as "what games you think has a half way though story that makes you go, 'so that's it?' " because you never finished the game. that's what I'm trying to say. you never actually finished the game. I'm not trying to be offensive or anything of the sort. i have nothing against you. i say this because i fear you have some hostility toward me. (no pun intended-seriously) I'm just saying that how can you say its a bad ending if you never got to the actual ending. I'm putting up this argument because i love fear. its a great game. one of my favorites. and i don't think it should be judged they way you say it to be. Crysis is one of my favorite games also. The way it left us hanging is called a cliff hanger. it makes us begging for more. is it a bad ending? no, because we have to see it though to determine that. but right now we're waiting for that ending. does it suck that it left us hanging like that? yeah. when you get into a game you want to keep playing, not wait to finish it. its one thing to talk about game play, its a whole nother ball part to talk about story line.
