Default EA, I'm sick of your s***

That hostile-takeover I heard about has me ready to slit some throats. EA has been slowly ticking me off with their crappy games, not caring about what they throw into the stuff they make, simply buying out other companies to rake in profits...

First Bungie fell prey to microsoft. And now Take-Two might become part of EA? Attempting to take down Take-Two is the last straw. No sooner do they make it public that they intend to make Bioshock 2 then EA is all over them like s*** on Velcro. How many decent game companies are going to fall prey to the conglomerates? The few good games that come from these companies are going to be few and far between if they all keep getting bought out like this. I'm sick and tired of it.

I sincerely hope they don't get their way. Personally, I'd like to see what Take-Two can do on its own. I want to see what Bioshock 2 is going to be like WITHOUT EA's frigging influence. Because if they buy the company and get involved it'll be another good game turned to s*** in their hands just like Halo when Bungie was bought out.

And I hope I'm not the only one who's stomach turned upon reading that news article.

I'm with you link.

I find EA's titles tend to be bug-ridden, badly coded, heavily marketed and mightily disappointing considering the hype.

But development cost's are rising in a big way for games software and it's the consumer driving demand for better graphics. Personally, I don't care how good a game looks, I care how it plays. Afterall it doesn't matter how pretty a game is if it doesn't have the playability then you're not going to play it are you .

If coder's of pc games weren't so wasteful of gpu architecture (as opposed to console gpu's) then it might be a different story. I mean, the PS3's graphics are based upon a 7900GTX for crying out loud and look at the content it can display with the associated (and rather good) framerates.

Bottom line is that it's business and the big boys will always swallow the successful small boys, even if their finished product doesn't come to fruition. Just look at Aegia (Nvidia have just bought them.

I reckon Intel will be having Nvidia next but that's just an opinion.

agreed. with every word. just take a look at half life 1. it had some of the worse graphics on the whole of the spectrum, in comparison to the newer games at least. and yet, for its time, it was a master piece all because of the game play.

same goes for Metal Gear Solid 1 for the playstation. the graphics were crap, but the gameplay was magnificent. it was so great that it was remade a bunch of times for the next-gen systems like gamecube and the like.

i could give a crap if the graphics aren't as good as possible. just look at the wii. the graphics aren't exactly next-gen, but it's presented smoothly and in such a way that its not offensive to the eye, and the game play isn't hurt by it at all.

some people are telling me that EA is shaping up, but i have more than enough reason to ignore such an opinion.

but more importantly, I just fail to see a point in blaming consumers and their desire for better graphics. even if objections are raised, they are a majority and majority rules. and i highly doubt they would change their minds.

the biggest objection i have is that a great game is being pulled down a peg if this EA buy-out goes through. bioshock has the potential of being one of the masterpieces of our time, like final fantasy 7 was back in the 90s. and i would HATE to see such a title ripped to shreds in the hands of that company.

Im with you guys, these small companies are needed, not just for the excellent games they give us, the game play graphics, or new engines etc but they treat their customers with a bit of respect in the way they develop and present the games knowing that they have to rely on the game being brill and talked about to make any money for them and so they can develop the next game or even a sequel which with these smaller companies the sequel is as good if not better than the orginal
the big conglom treat their customers as idiots they have a half decent game, ruin it some more by leaving glitches and bugs in, overhype it then churn out sequel after sequal each one as good as the first but the first was crap in the first place,
If take-two are taken over i just hope the team, to a person, ups sticks and start up again with a new name and game ( must have a few in development )
leaving EA with just an empty shell

maybe they could play it smart and not release bioshock 2 until they've released a few other crap games under EAs name. just enough to rake in some more game development money. then they cut and run.

that'd be the best case scenario in my book should this take-over succeed.

anger issues indeed. but they're carefully thought out and passionate responses at the very least. the frustrated gamers out there now have a venue in which to vent their laments and disappointments.
