Default The End To Games?

Well basically i wanted to ask all the people what they thought on the subject of games causing violence, as i have now seen on the news a couple of times on the news i think, and how they all believe they can try and ban them because of all these "things" games can cause.

But my opinion its just a excuse to take away some of the exciting things people have, and well i see no proof games actually killing people, and im sorry if anyone reading this has witness or maybe know someone which this has happened to, im sorry its just im annoyed at the people that think something like a game can lead someone to murder, i can see the sides of people commiting suicide, as you may heard some of the world of warcraft incidents, which i feel deeply sorry for, but can they not tell, cyber to RL (Real Life) and to be honest if they end up banning games, all the gaming industries will be extremely pis*ed, and microsoft, dont get started on what they would do, bill gate's will nuke parliment and the white house, as now games have become one of the most popular things on the planet.

What do you think on the topic?

well with all millions of players, there are only a small percentage of killings that are apparently INFLUENCED by the style of killing due to a game, im sure if they played monopoly they'd still not be right in the head lol and end up killing someone just in a different style perhaps, plsu they would never ban games, maybe have tighter laws on violent games but its doubtful, games have too much economic value in them

Banning them would just be a "quick solution" to a problem that is much much deeper then the games themselves.

These people had a problem before they could use a game controller or mouse. Politicians and organizations use the violence they "cause" to make headlines. (my opinion)

War produces killers also, but every generation finds a reason to go to war.

People snap for various reasons. There is tons of violence in cartoons so everyone has seen plenty of it well before becoming a gamer.

I would have to agree on several fronts. I agree that it isn't games that are causing violence in the world today, but rather the fact that some people are just 'bad eggs', who, by coincidence alone, play video games. Violence has been a part of the nature of man since the beginning of time, and there isn't much that is going to change it.

You said that they try to ban games to take away something we find exciting, which I would have to disagree with. They don't do it to take away something thats fun, they do it because they are scared, and need something or someone to blame. Automatically they think that it must be games causing these problems, and they subsequently try to ban them. If games are such a dangerous thing, why is it that they are so widespread, yet they only cause violence on rare occasions. There have been around 5-10 incidents of game related violence in the past 10 years, but when you look at the statistics, and find that there are over 400 million regular gamers in the world today, well hey, our record really isn't that bad after all.

In my honest opinion, I think they should be placing stricter laws on guns and drugs. I believe that there should be a reform in the criminal justice system as well. A man gets sent to prison for 20 years for possession and distribution of drugs, yet a man convicted of torturing a young girl receives 15 years? Where's the justice in that?

And to add to this rant of mine, what good is the prison system anyway!? People get thrown into a cell for 10 years and when they come out they commit crimes again and again. What we need is a proper system where convicted criminals receive special help to get them back on track, and away from crime.

*sighs* And that sir, is my 2 cents.

Guns don't kill, its the finger behind the (muther.....) trigger that does. (Sorry, almost lapsed into rap then).

Mis-use of drugs kills, by proxy as well as literally; look at the money to be made.

The "Ban everything" crowd are, imo, just busybodies, nothing more, nothing less. They just happen to have some power behind them so are given air time. The media sidles on up to them and they enjoy the attention. Unfortunately, they're generally living far removed from the day-to-day reality that is the world today.

There's always going to be someone that disagrees with someone else, it's human nature, to coin a very overused phrase.

Games do not make people violent, the violence has to be within them in the first place. Are they going to ban films as well. Look at the two snipers in Washington (was it?) who claimed the matrix was real.

Games will never be banned and do you know why? There's too much money to be made and the people making it also have a voice and a lot of power.

Money makes the world go round folks.

Let me just end with a request. Call me master chief now, not Alex.......or I'll waste yo ass!!!!!
