Hi all,

Installed FC2 today but seem to be having major issues running it smoothly some of the time.

In game it runs fine to begin with but once I hit an action point or enter a vehicle it becomes unplayable.

First thing I tried was dropping the settings and continued to do so until I was on the lowest res and the lowest settings possible, there was an improvement but it still becomes unplayable. The sound is the worst aspect it is awful to listen to. I also tried it with sound off and have adjusted the sound settings in my sound manager. Note, only on board sound.

Measuring it with Fraps on the lowest settings and lowest res I get around 130-200 consistently until it drops like a stone to around 30 ish, becomes unplayable in action but it then climbs back up. Looking at the figures in this months CPC I should easily be able to handle it at my max res of 1440x900, especially on low settings!!

I have latest drivers and patches installed.

Specs are Q6600 stock, P5W DH, 4gb OCZ 800, GTX 260 Black Ed, Tuniq tower, 650w Xclio greatpower. XP Pro SP3.
Had another go at it tonight and got no further.

One thing I did do tonight was to run task manager whilst running it in a window. Whilst it is running smoothly farcry2 uses up to 47%ish but when running badly this drops as low as 7% the rest appearing to return to the idle process.

The shown cpu usage at the bottom remains high though, around 47%.

Gonna reinstall crysis when i get time and see how it runs, used to run o.k on med settings with me old 9600gt.

Any ideas you can give will be appreciated?

You're right, something fishy is going on here. I assume you've reinstalled the game?

A couple things could be going on here. It actually could be the PSU, but that's exceedingly rare. It could also be the card itself.

The best thing to do would be to install Crysis or another game and see if you get the same drops. You should be running this fine - my 8800GTS 320 at the same res runs FC2 exceedingly well on high.

What Carbon said. The system I poorly built myself that runs many games much more intensive than Farcry2, ran Farcry2 flawlessly.

LOL If you never get the game right, let me spoil it for you. you NEVER do anything more than the missions you have done so far until you suffer your way through this pathetic game. Actually, it's not really a game you will find out if you finish it, it's a political statement. A Damn Canadian one at that........

Thanks for the replies, managed to sort it out but had to replace the motherboard.

At least it runs sweet maxed out now.

Ahh i got bored of this game after i realised there was a whole new map (part 2)... and when i found out what happens at the end. Oh well, but this game did more for me than FO3. Everyone says it good (FO3) but i just dont like it.

Hmm... my cards still good (8800GTS 640mb) but i don't like the idea of upgrading to get even higher settings. I don't even need to upgrade since i only really play DotA.
