I took a butchers in the downloads section and found the game accelerator software. I'm a novice when it comes to this sort of software, and wondered if it could actually help me play games on my laptop smoother - the sole game being Black and White 2.

I can actually live with the lag in the game that's consistent throughout, but if I can improve that with free and safe software, what's the harm done?

Can anyone suggest which game accelerator would be best and any particular settings or preferences I should use that may help greatly.

Many thanks in advance,

KingO.

I would reduce all the graphics settings in the game and use one of the game accelerators mentioned in the downloads section.
I use to use XP Smoker and it helped a little but these accelerators can only help a little.
Black and White 2 is a great game but is quite heavy on resources.
It is also a game that claims to run on a certian level of hardware and barely does so,and the further you get into the game the worse it gets with larger levels etc.(A pet hate of mine).

Thanks a lot for your advice.

Would reducing the appearance of XP for performance purposes also allow Black and White 2 to run smoother?

I know that my graphics card is nothing special, and neither is my processor, it's about average. But I have installed 4 times the amount of RAM the computer originally had (512mb - 2048mb). I know for a fact that my laptop almost never uses half of it, so there's plenty of free RAM available.

The extra ram will help of course but its the graphics that will take the biggest toll. The other software for increasing game performance will shut off non essential services and reduce XPs use of resources.Thats all they basically do.Do what you would think to do yourself, plus more.Automatically.

Once again, thank you for the advice. I'll give that a try now.

Do you mind me asking what graphics card your laptop has?, because most laptops unless you actually buy a gaming one, will only come with a built in one like intel graphics, depending on the motherboard.

ATI Mobility Radeon X300. I think it's 64mb. Nothing special.

Id guess that would be one of your problems.
