Default Game recommendations for young kids

My 8-year old loves video games, but he gets upset with violence or extreme tension. His favorites are Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and the Legos version of the Star Trek movies. Any suggestions for other games he might enjoy?

If he has a DS and loves animals Mom check Nintendogs.

My grandaughter is obsessed with it.

I was going to say the Star wars legos. My sons love that one. Have you tried the V-smile game system. We have that one and there is no violence and it is learning at the same time as doing something fun.

And there are allways the oldies but goldies, no idea if the retrogame pack is allready available for the DS but there is allway Tetris, good old Pac man and the DS offers also a whole lot in brainteasers and puzzles (name escapes me at the moment)
