Maybe, but it depends what games. Some games are CPU intensive, while others hardly use it at all. The most important thing in games is the GPU (graphics processing unit) or graphics card. What graphics card do you have?

Well from what I can see that processor wouldn't do too much good with gaming, and neither would that graphics card. I think the 8300GT only came out recently because I can't find a single thing about it, but from what I can see it's probably only as good as a 7600GS or GT... FEAR would probably destroy it...

Do you currently own those products, or are you looking at buying them? If you are thinking of buying them, I'd suggest you wait and save up a little more, then buy something better. FEAR is a very tough game, and if your going to want to play any of the games that will come out soon your going to need one hell of a card, and CPU. With the release of Nvidia 9800 GPU later this month, you should be able to expect all older card prices to fall, which should be good.

Well, if you went bargaining you could get a good computer, able to run newer games like Oblivion and F.E.A.R for about AU$1350.

How much are you willing to spend?

Dell computers are ripoffs in Australia, as I generally tend to believe.

If your daring enough you could build your own PC, with the help of the good people here at The Computer Forums. You would get a lot better value for your money...
