Halo 3 player punches mother after video game is taken away. WHAT is it about games that would cause this?
Quote:
A juvenile fan of the video game Halo 3 is accused of punching his mother after she forced him to end his game Sunday night and fighting with sheriff’s deputies as they tried to restrain him, according to reports released Wednesday.

Not the game. The game is only mentioned in the report to get more people to look at the report. And the report was only made in the first place because he was playing the game.

Look how big halo is to the industry, and all the advertising that's going on for it. Good news is where you find it i guess (and yes folks, I do type that in rather a cynical way).

If he'd hit her because she stopped him drinking beer it wouldn't have made the news.

Kids hit their parents for all sorts of reasons all across the globe. Parents hit their kids for all sorts of reasons all across the globe. But mention "Video game" and the whole ban-video-games mob and their interest groups want a piece of the action.

I may be daft but....... I think I see what you mean.

It is a local report, I haven't seen anything Nationwide on it.

But really, do/have you ever felt violent towards someone over gaming? Sure I get mad as hell, but wanting to punch someone out, especially Mom has not been in the cards.

all i can say is,
WTF
? halo stinks IMHO. and even serious PC gamers know when to stop and go outside for once. i bet the kid had anger issues of some sort which, medically speaking, could have been triggered by taking anything he wanted badly away from him. if he had a favorite
piece
of cheese and it was taken away he would have gone
ballistic
. i think it was medical, not
OCD
over a game.

edit- crud, i appears when i use google spell check i dont exit our before i submit and the words that it sees wrongly spelled or corrected in colors. sorry guys, my bad

Try this cheesepuff. IE Spell

The program installs as a new button in the IE toolbar (as well as a new menu item under "Tools") - after filling in a form, just hit the ieSpell button and it pops up a dialog, similar to the MS Word spell check. ieSpell also works (right-click menu only) on other IE based browsers.

Or switch to Firefox, which has a built in spell checker.

Cheesepuff I cant make any sense out of your post.

OT
This type of sensationalist crap pisses me off.
Alex is correct.
Lets see.
Kid punches Mom.Does it make the news? No.It is not News.
Kid punches Mom cause he isnt allowed to play Halo.Does it make the News?Yes.Because Halo is News.
The kid obviously has no control over his anger. He needs help.Starting with no more XBox.lol
Blaming Halo(or any video game) for this kids actions is ridiculous.
How many millions of people are playing Halo now?Are millions of Moms getting punched? No.

They do the same thing with movies.
Kid watches daft horror movie, goes crazy, kills someone.
Solution:Ban movie.
Once again millions of people have watched said movie but millions did not go out killing people.
Some may argue that if a movie or game drives even one person to attack or kill someone then it should be banned.
I argue that if we banned everything that supposedly made people do crazy things there wouldnt be very much to do in this world.
But all that is irrelevant because the obvious truth is that these people are messed up and need a shrink.
I was gonna continue ranting on and on and on but I could feel myself starting to lose control and I wouldnt want TCF to get blamed for something I might end up doing so I will close here.

in other words (about my post) i think its a medical, not obsessive reaction that child made. if you took away anything he really liked he would have gotten that mad. its not because of halo, its cuz the kid is messed up in the head.
