Unfortunately gone are the days when GTA were easily playable on the computer straight from release no need for the headache and social club joining.

UPDATE
i have been told just a few minutes ago from a friend that works in IT that to play GTA 4 smoothly that you need a min of 3gb ram, vista, and a quad core cpu
i know it states multi-core for recommended cpu on the back of the case
anyone know if this is correct?
If it is us guys with dual core have no chance to play it smoothly

I guess it has something to do with video card driver.

I remember my PC acting the same way, then I've notice that the video card driver is not installed and its using microsoft driver which limits its all functionality and features

the PC version uses massive texture resolutions from what i have read. the Console version only uses 10% view distance. 50% from what i understand will use about 1GB of V ram. so i can see how the view distance is a killer in frames.
