Default How to find what's limiting

Well as most of you probably know, Supreme commander is a game that requires a fairly good PC to run properly on full settings and large maps, however I've been having some problems, the game timer (set at normal speed, so should be real time) is only advancing 1 second every 2 or 3 real seconds, this is very annoying as it makes a normally hour game take 2 or 3 hours to complete, and that was only on a 40x40 map, I dread to think what it would be like on the full sized 81x81 maps and 1000 population limit

So here is the main problem with it, according to the readings, it's neither GPU or CPU thats slowing it down (FPS always above 15 or so, maxing out at about 50/60), however my CPU says it's not at 100% either (1 core at 100% almost all the time, the other between 10-20%) So according to those, neither of those are slowing it down, so what is?

Any help with this would be greatly appriciated, it's got me

Hmm, I dunno. My first suggestion would be replacing the processor, because the 3850 is a pretty good card, but I know SupCom is pretty graphics-intensive.

I would lean toward the processor on this one - mostly because it sounds like it's handling threading badly. Even a $80 E5200 should be a pretty good upgrade.

It's just that I only bought this stuff about 2 weeks ago, at which time, there was no E5200, otherwise I probably would have got that. Is there any patch or anything that you know of that assists in using both cores?

If the game was already fully patched, no. I've heard SupCom uses multithreading well but this seems to point directly the other way.

OK, it is fully patched, but I thought I heard something somewhere about a patch for windows or something that sometimes works?
