Lol, press L1 or R1 i dont remember, i haven't played that in along time. so yeah, to get back to your character press L1 or R1 until you switch characters and get back to her. And for the 2nd question, complete all of your person's wants and need until you get a GOLD want a gold want is a want with a golden background. if you complete her gold want, then go to the phone booth in the front of the house and then you will get a new place to stay.

Read your directions, in the both PC and game consoles you can switch to different members of your household. It was probably a button on your controller, so look into your directions and find the section for switching characters, or controlling other Sims.
