No, it wont affect the gameplay at all, you just wont be able to see the gameplay in Hi-Definition is all

It will affect the graphics in the sense that you won't be able to see them how they're ment to be. But gameplay no, it will all be fine to play.

If you're spending over £400 on a console, invest a further £80 on a 17" tft and play your games through that. Afterall, if you're buying a Gen3 console then you really want to see the games true graphics dont you.

As 17" tft's have a higher resolution than hdtv's you'll see a huge increase in picture quality over your current screen or even a hdtv.

The only downside is i'm assume a 17" tft will be smaller than the tv you're going to use.

Sounds fair really. If you are going to pay loads of money for an over expensive gaming console, you might aswell buy a better TV. I am sure you can get Playstations with the HD televisions. I am sure you can.
