It's probably true, however the problem is what do you call "the same xbox"?
Just the case maybe?
The trouble is Halo obviusly is stricter on what makes it the same - maybe all the serials from hardware components are the same or something.
Where as MS, when they fix it update several components. Mine came back with a new DVD drive, new latest type of Motherboard and a mark where the guy fixing it had dirt on his hands
So I had the same issue as you for COD4 and WaW.
All I did was:
Re download maps
Reboot.
Then it worked fine, so seeing as you've tried that and it doesn't work for Halo... I'm not sure sorry - but it may be worth a try on COD, if you havn't already.
