I read somewhere that nintendo are releasing an updated wii that supports DVDs.
Think this would be a great feature as it looks great and doesn't take much room, would definitely chuck my dvd player in the bin coz its terrible ![]() Is this true? |

From what I've heard this is definately true - problem is the people (me included) who already own a Nintendo Wii ours won't be able to play DVDs. As apparantly it will require more than just a firmware upgrade to get them to play. So you'd have to buy a completely brand new Wii just to get it to play DVD films. Great..

The Wii itself does not include a DVD player. The disks work on another format. This is to keep the costs down. It is possible that they might release a second version of the Wii-like the DS lite with the DVD player inserted. No official word from Nintendo yet though.

When Nintendo releases their next system, this will have to be a must. Of course, by then, you will either need an R-Ray player or an HDDVBDDDFDDBVD player. (from RvB
)(B-Ray and HDDVD) |

But then it'd make the console more expensive. What do you really want-cheaper or DVD? I'd want cheaper any day.

Then they'd probably make it an optional external attachment, like the hddvd player for the xbox360.

But why not just pick up a £15 DVD player at a store? Doesn't that just make more sense?
