Hi i have a few games ive bought and installed into the pc but ive noticed scratches appearing from constant insertion and removal from dvd player, so i was wondering if it is legal to download and install these patches that allow you to play the game without a disc
have done a few searches but only seem to get bittorrents. If its okay to use no cd cracks anyone recommand a good site?
also have been told that they are full of viruses and such like
that true?
or is it best just to be extra careful with the disc

It is not ok to use them. That's why they are on dodgy sites. I suspect this thread will be locked as they are also very illegal.

i guess in theory that there illegal because your editing there software, but you still own the legal copy of the disk, plus its not like anyway one is going to find out unless your playing the game online, what about making an ISO of the disk and mounting it in a virtual drive.

Patch is just another word for crack or warez. Read the fin print on any products web page and I'm sure there will be some language stating a "limited guarantee." In other words, nothing is forever and they know at some point continued use will degrade the product and you will have to buy another.

Intellectual property holds the same rights as a patent. You can't use, copy or distribute it as you wish without approval from the owner.
