Right Click the sound icon in your toolbar/taskbar (Sound settings).
Click "playback devices"
Right Click on the speaker type you are using.
Click Properties
Click Advanced
Go to the drop down menu under default format (it's the top option) and change the setting to 16 bit 44100 Hx.
Click "Apply' at the bottom of the open box and then exit.
Restart your COD 5 and you will have sound.

Im having same problem with 64Vist Ultimate. Ive just built i7 core computer so i know its not hardware. Its definatly the patch cause I reinstalled, and before patch sound worked fine. After patch sound went out (solo and multi). Its the patch nothing else we just have to wait till CoD releases patch to fix this issue. Make sure you post on forums and check forums for fix, I know i will be.
