Did you read Carbon's "Computer Parts Guide #4"?

From memory I don't think it's one he reccommends, I'll go check for you, or your welcome to take a read on it (In General Hardware Chat section)

8800GT/9800GT Old cards that keep getting rehashed. Not worth the price either, with better ATI cards at nearly the same price point. (all 4/10)
Quote:
The 9800GTX+ and GTS 250 (essentially the same thing) are junk, rehashed cards trying desperately to compete with the 4850 and can't touch the 4770 in power consumption/heat/performance/price.
The 4770 however gets a 9/10 for price to performance, that's in the same price range as the 9800.
Might be worth a look?

It depends on the pricing there. The 4830, 4770, and 4850 are better both in performance and price, but if the pricing of those is much higher than the 9800GT, it may not be worth it.
