Why is Xbox rubbish?
Sure PS3 have good specs but there aren't many games to back it up...

The drive cage is accessible via a panel on one side, and contains a 2.5-inch serial ATA model commonly found in notebooks, the Seagate Momentus 5400.2

p.s. the one I was looking at was 120GB and it wasn't that expensive

Well you said 'does anyone know where to get a decent extra hard drive to put in a ps3?'

From that I figured you wanted to replace the 40GB hard drive with say a 250GB hard drive

Here is detailed instructions for that
Press Start: How to Upgrade Your PlayStation 3 Hard Drive

If you are just looking to add some extra storage, just get an external hard drive and plug it in to USB as was posted before
