Default Sims 2 wont install on my Vista comp missing file autorungui.dll help eek =(

I have the Sims 2 game disks from waaaay back when it first came out and so I pulled it out to try to put in on my Vista Business OS computer system for old time fun. =) However, when I open the autorun.exe file I get an error that this file is missing:

C:\windows/system32\autorungui.dll

I am unable to install any of it and it makes me want to cry. I don't want to have to buy the game again. That is so unfair. I paid for it once and just wanted to pick it up and play again for fun and due to the lovely Vista OS I cannot. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this =(

Also I tried copy all the disks to my C drive and then i started the Sims 2 Autorun.exe file from the copied files and it actually started installing. BUT when the first disk was finished it asked for disk two and my only option was "ok" or "cancel" and the ok did not start up disk two. I even entered the disk two to see if that would work and it didn't =(. I am just so frustrated with Vista I could cry.

I can't wait til they take XP of the market in June this year. I hope people scream in Microsofts ear until they decide to keep it out. Vista drives me insane. I have had so many continuing problems with it. DONT UPGRADE. For gods sake hold on to your XP!!! lol

Not sure i understand what you mean.
You are trying to install the games? When do you get the error, after the installation is complete?

You could try a few things. Firstly, try making an ISO of Disc 1 (and all the rest of the discs) and try installing them as normal but mounting them with Daemon Tools or something rather than uising the cds. Second thing, is your disc scratched? Try cleaning it with a soft cloth even if it doesn't look very dirty; this has been the difference between playable and unplayable for me a few times before! And thirdly, try insalling it on a different comp. If it comes up with the same error, clean the disc to death and try again. If not, you'll have to get a new copy :/

Does it install on another PC? That will confirm if it is your PC or the CDs.
