When I got the Sims 3 my computer had a virus but I installed it anyways and it worked fine, just with some random restarts. The other day our friend who works with computers like reboot everything and reinstalled windows and all the drives. Now whenever I put the CD in I get the BSOD the error 0x8E. It works some of the times, but other times it doesn't. I was researching that stop error and it was talking about memory and the video card, so would I need a new chip? I'm going crazy here.

I really need help with this. If you need to know anything else about my computer just ask. (: I appreciate it.

yeah, give the rest of the specs.

the first thing i would be looking at is RAM and Video card. The minimum RAM requirement for XP is 1gb and Vista 2gb,it would be better to have more than 1.5gb for XP and 2.5gb for Vista, in my experience with the Sims 3. and the Video card needs to be 128mb or better card that supports DX9 and shader model 2. An nVidia card needs to be an FX5900 or better and an ATi card needs to be a 9500 series or better as a bare minimum.

I know all the requirements are met for my computer, I ran a test called can you run it? So it doesn't have anything to do with that.

Our friend that just rebooted the computer said to reinstall the sims, so I'll do that if anything.
