I would like to capture video from my PS3 in any detail, really. I know you can get dead cheap cards that capture in standard deffinition, which is fine. However, I'd like to play in HD while captureing. From what I've HDMI capture cards are way to expensive (well over £150) and have problems with something the PS2 uses. I've heard about using a component capture card with a HDMI to component converter. I'm just wondering what I should do? What do other people do? Just play in standard deffinition when they want to capture? Or fork out the money for HD capture cards?

I'd be using a laptop to capture and I'd like to keep it cheap as possible, as I'm only using it for fun, maybe posting youtube videos and the like.

Thanks in advance,
Wisey

Get a SD Capture card.

Output HD to the TV, but use a splitter, and take one output to the capture card.

You can view HD and record SD.
