Lol, I cannot believe that Nintendo started out as an card company though. Wied. They should re-make them like Pokemon, YuGiOh, and Magic cards. They would make off them, alot.

Yep it was Oct 18, 1985 my senior year of highschool, I purchased one of the very first systems. The one that came with the useless little robot you play games with. Wow I'm getting old and still play games.

The company has existed since 1889 (02/23/1989, to be exact), was renamed "Nintendo Playing Card Co. Ltd" in 1951. The Famicom was first *available* in Japan on July 15, 1983 -- but what we called the Nintendo Entertainment System was not available in the US until October 18, 1985.You have two dates to choose from, then: 07/15/1983 or 10/18/1985.Note that neither is an "invention" date -- for many products only the release date is deemed important enough to publish. The "SNES" (Super Nintendo) didn't hit the shelves in Japan until November 21, 1990 -- and in the US, August 13, 1991.
