I agree you need to try the connecters. Does the controller flash red where the green lights are ???

OK you can either try reseting your console or video settings. Remove all HDD's and memory cards. Then turn your console on make sure everything is connected as normal. Then press.

To reset your video settings.
hold Y and Right trigger at startup.

If this doesnt work then try resettng the whole console by pressing.
Left Trigger, Right Trigger, X, Y, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, Up, Left Bumper, Left Bumper, X

If neither of them work then It maybe a hardware problem when did you buy your xbox 360 and is it a new or an old model.

[EDIT] You mentioned HDMI so it must be a new model

I'd say its gone down the usual Xbox 360 route of failure. Id send it back to M$ if you still have the warranty or a gurantee in place. If it has the red ring of death around the console power button then you get a free 3 year warranty for it I think..
