Hi i'm new to the forum and have little time to look over all threads, sorry i'm at work on break. Now i've just purchased a new MOBO and set it all up plugged the 20pin block into the MOBO and the 4-pin and it booted up and died then booted up again then died and does this every 3-4 seconds, so i took out ram re inserted cpu and fan and GPU card. nothing did same again. I took the power cords out first the 4-pin try it and it booted up fine and stayed on, the monitor will not turn on but it stays running (cpu fan, gpx fan) when i plugged the lead back in it just starts re-booting evey 3-4 seconds again. Any ideas anyone??

CPU heatsink not fitted properly.

When the 4-pin CPU block is plugged in, the CPU starts, overheats, then shuts down.

When it's not, the CPU doesn't start, doesn't generate heat, and it stays on and doesn''t give a signal.

So do you think there could be a fault with the CPU? I'm at my wits end with this now. There is a bit of thermal heat paste thats got under the cpu but only a little bit. I'm I right in thinking the PSU is ok its a really good PSU and its less than 12mths old.
