i know its an optima (australian manufacturer). dunno how to get more specific. the mother board is an intel d865glcl if that helps. except im not sure if it was sealed by the manufacturers or some workplace or something. after unscrewing it, it still wont open, asif something is keeping it shut from the inside or something.

Hi Contrast, and welcome!

Maybe you could ask your friend to ask the IT dept. of the company if they seal the cases or lock them in some way. Is there any kind of lock on it? some companies do do this.

If no joy, then maybe contact the manufacturer.

You could also try putting a pic up on here. Doesn't sound like a case that many people will know but people can see it then maybe they'll be able to make more suggestions.

Maybe it has some kinds of clips and you have to unrelease them to open the case.

Hope it helped.

Is it one of those cases where you need to take the front panel off before sliding the rest of the case forward and up?

I had a case once where one side (the usual side) came off fine, but the other side was stuck fast... I took a screwdriver to it and it came off eventually but it's never fitted properly since then.

There's always Dremmeling it... This is a last ditch attempt, but you can try sliding it, locate places of stress on the case, and cut the stressed places out using your Dremmel. Also, a hacksaw could do it, but would take forever...
