This is my first system I have ever build so I am pretty new to all of this and need some help. My fans have two 4 pin molex connectors one female and one male I connected the fans 4 pin male connector to my power supply's 4 pin peripheral it took some effort to get in but fit. When i turned my power supply on nothing happened. I just have the case, power supply and 3 fans I was wondering if you needed to have the whole system built in order for them to work? and does anything have to be connected to the female 4 pin molex connector? because right now I don't have them connected to anything. Please correct me if i did some thing wrong or you know what the problem is.

Yes, you need the system built for them to work. The PSU wont power on without a signal from the motherboard.
