Default Flash then nothing.

A friend phoned to say there was a flash from the rear of his computer, when he switched on, then nothing. I will not get to see it until tomorrow and I am thinking PSU is gone. I also would expect motherboard and hard drive to be fried as well ...

I also would expect motherboard and hard drive to be fried as well with possibly CPU and other components. Am I thinking along the right lines?

Definitely the PSU and maybe the fuse in the plug.

Other items are a possibility but more often than not they will be OK.

A new PSU cured it. No other components were damaged.

Found out what the flash was, the fuse was blown in the PSU. I opened it to have a look, however, since it is a generic, best not used again.
