Default Gaming fans & cases

Hi all, i am starting to build my own computer which when finished will mainly be used for gaming so i want to find a good fan (whisper quiet) and a case that has good ventilation. Could anyone reccomend a good fan and a case that has good ventilation for gaming?

Antec make some great cases.

Search for the Antec 900 or maybe the Antec P180.

:)

Hi,

ThermalTake offer good choice of cases and are aimed for different uses. They come with very quite fans from stock and you also could easilt upgrade them and use some kind of soundproufing which is offered also by ThermalTake.

As for a case I am going to buy the TT Kandalf with 25cm side fan which has LOTS of ventilation holes etc... But if you would like a better one, then TT are going to introduce their new Armor+ case which is VERY nice as suites your needs. See video below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYT3eIFETqY

I do not know your budget but the Armor+ will approx. would cost round the 200pounds imo since it is a new case.

The TT Kandalf without side fan (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CA-005-TT) is 110.44pounds

Hope it helped.

I had the Antec 900 case and it was very cool. the 200mm fan on the top worked wonders, and it had plenty of room for expansion.

Although my current case, the cm stacker 832 (£150) is just as cool. It doesn't come with any big ass fan but does have the ability to house up to NINE 120MM fans, and has ventilation in places you wouldn't have thought! It is basically just like housing your pc in a fridge, though it isn't much smaller than a fridge, either.

Generally, larger fans will be quieter, as they spin at a lower speed to move the air around the case. A 200mm fan will be a lot quieter than, say, a 60mm.

The CM Stacker is a very good case, although anything by TT is of a high standard.

Personally, my computer runs very coolly, although it is a very noisy system, I have a 120mm fan in the back, a 200mm fan in the front, 2 80mm fans cooling the processor, and 3 other 80mm fans in various positions around the case...

Noisy, but it can cool drinks as well... =)

I think another factor is the positioning of the fans.

Whilst my old antec case was v.quiet due to the large fan, my coolermaster is barely any different to it using smaller fans but just as cool.

With the method of position fans on my cm stacker I have one blowing directly over my GFX card, I also have a 120mm in the front (intake) and 120mm in the rear (exhaust), creating a tunnel effect throughout my case. My HSF is also mounted in the direction of the travelling air, causing my case to be very very cool indeed.

I also have the option of mounting another 120mm directly in front of my HDDs so that they have a constant breeze of cool air too.

That's, pretty much, the standard (and best) airflow setup in any case Gaz.

All except the side intake fan, although these are being fitted more and more to cases.

Yea, the only reason I installed the side fan was because it was so convenient to have air blowing directly onto my GFX card .

Hopefully soon I will have several more much quiter fans to replace the standard ones.

Also, has anyone installed any green cold cathode tubes in their pc? I used to have four blue ones in my Soprano and Antec, though blue seems to be everyones favourite nowadays, and isn't that spectacular anymore, so i'm thinking of changing to green but only if it looks half decent.

I have a side exhaust mounted opposite the processor, creates a nice little vacuum spot for much of the hot air in the case.

I've had to employ a second PSU for the fans, and my pretty cold cathodes... and my LEDs... etc etc...
