Hello everybody,

Just joined the forum to learn alot lot more about computers etc ..

Forum looks great ..

Can anyone help me ? My old computer all of a sudden just went off by itself when i was on the net, i tryed to reboot but nothing happens. The computer was built my dad but he moved away so have no contact with him anymore, on the bottom of the base of the tower ( see through case) when i plug in the power lead there is a little light that will go green, but when i press the start button on the front of the tower nothing happens ??

Does this sound like a easy fix that someone could help me withno that my dads gone and he cant help or will it cost me a fortune to sort out

Thanks alot everyone ;):)

Try replacing the PSU (power supply), that should sort it.

figure out what model you are using that might be blown, and find a comparable one, either from a working machine or buy it.
There are people here that will be able to tell you if they are comparable if you don't know

Why strip a PSU out of a working PC Dilbert?
They are cheap enough to buy.

Have a look at this and do you see where it says 450W tell us what yours says.

Yes you should be able to so long as they look the same.

It is simply unplugging the old one and plugging in the new, like for like.

What makes are both PCs?

maybe he wants to make sure that it is the psu before buying a replacement for one that might not be broken?

Indeed, it could be a dead mobo but the PSU is the first port of call.
