i got given this computer as something is wrong with it and the person who gave me it got a new comuter when this one stopped working
the spec are as follows

emachine
2.60 Ghz Intel Celeron
120gb western digital
1 gb ddr memory
dvd re writer

when i power the pc up all is good windows boots and i can log in..its when i shutdown the pc.the pc shuts down and the harddrive stops and cpu fan stops but the psu is still on.as i can here the fan in the psu spinning and the HDD led on the case flashes like mad.the only way i can get the psu to turn off is when i unplug it at the wall.

if i dont unplug the psu by the plug after about 10 seconds the pc will turn on.
am i write to belive its psu problem? i have 4 spare psu and i tried everyone of them in this computer and it wouldent even power up with them and i no they work.so the old one is back in now but stil same problem.i did also look in the bios for power options and all are disabled i did enable them to see if that fixed the problem but no sutch look.
am convinced its the psu and i think my other psu wouldent work on it as theyre maybe for amd and not intel. this is my first tiem with intel but am sure if the psu plug fits the motherboard it should work? i put new memory in too and a new HDD running onboard graphics card but this also dident solve the problem.

there isnt really any difference between amd and intel PSU's apart from the plugs that are on it, though usually theyre the same. but otherwise yeah, it sounds like a PSU prob, tho i guess it could be the motherboard, tried reseting the bios?

PSUs commonly work, in part, whilst faulty. Any ATX PSU will be fine if you have a standard ATX case.

resetting the bios the bios was one of my first things i tried

year the psu's i tried on it the plugs fitted the motherboard. tho closer inspection on my psu's there is a white wire missing in one of the holes in the main lead that connects to the motherboard were as on the psu we think is falty there is a white wire in that hole.witch gives me reason to belive my psu wont work as its not for intel bu like you all say if it fits it work.
