So i didn't realise and turnt the PSU on and the case fan and the PSU fan where spinning etc, but when i hit the power button nothing happened, so i looked back and put all the case cables in the right slots, but now is the problem when i turn the PSU back on nothing happened no case fan power no PSU fan power, nothing!!! you can check PSU by removing all connections from mother board.if it is non ATX then just give power to PSU and measure 5volts on red wire with respect to black wire and 12 volts on yellow w.r.t. black.
if it is ATX;you have to short 2 pins on the multipin connector in order to switch on the supply -after giving the power.the details of which pins are to be shorted and what voltage should be seen is available on net. regarding demage due to wrong connection- it depends on what connector was connected to what socket. |

Thanks kanoakavirus for reminding the most important thing.Discharge is most important when you are busy with such a "HOLY" job like touching mother board !!!! But in case of chrisLU5 the damage probably have taken place due to wrong connections( let's hope not -and damage limited to PSU only). And for checking PSU I believe there is no need to discharge your self.
