hello i am going to (try)build a gaming pc and i need a good psu to power it
the system will be.
Intel Core 2 Quad - Q6600 - 95W G0 stepping
ASUS Striker Extreme Intel Socket 775 SLI Motherboard
OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM
at the moment i have the 8600gt (golden sample)not that impressed
so it might be 2 off 8800gt when i can afford it (or when the banks pay up)
i have got a case and it came with a psu 500w but it was cheap (powertek model kc500) and i dont know if it will be any good, i dont want anything to go up in smoke
any help would be good cheers

You don't require low (CL4 is it?) ram for a conroe. Due to the way the memory is controlled latency's really don't make any difference. Save yourself a few quid and get CL5.
You also don't require 4gb. Unless you're going for a 64bit os, you'll 'lose' a gb of memory.
Why the SLI chipset mobo when only going single card? Also, if you do demand a dual-card mobo then get a decent chipset; 680i.
I know the Corsair you're talking about, decent psu. I'd prefer a Coolermaster realpower out of the two, but that's more personal preference than anything else.
