I installed a new PSU today, but now my monitor just goes to standby when I switch the computer on. The power to the monitor is delivered through the computer, so I know it's getting power to it, except it pops up with "no signal".

What's going wrong?

Oops, the monitor doesn't get it's power through the comp, it does actually have it's own power lead.

PSU is a 400w X-Power ATX-400TD (I had an FSP 250w PSU before)

128 MB ATi Radeon 9250 Graphics. Standard graphics graphics card, standard monitor.

Maybe I've connected something up incorrectly, but I can't see what?

thought it was abit weird to have the psu power the monitor, never seen that before lol

is the fan on the gfx moving

do you get beeps when you turn the computer on

recheck all connections thoroughly, pushing them in very hard (not too hard of course)

theres a few possibilities we have to rule out

Can't hear any beeps when I turn it on

Fan for the gfx? Only fans I can see are the CPU fan and the ones inside the PSU.

And I've rechecked the wires. The ones for the CD and DVD drives must be in the right place as they eject fine, suggesting they have power to them. The 20 pin connector only goes in one place, and the square 4 pin connector went in the same place I took it from (I labelled them before I removed the old connectors). And the wire for the switch must be ok as I can turn the computer on just fine.

I've just tested my old CRT monitor and that doesn't seem to have any input from the computer either.

I'm stumped lol.

No separate power connector that I'm aware of, nor does it have it's own fan.

By the way, I tried the computer again a few minutes ago and there is a beep upon start up, from inside the pc. What does this mean?

Aha! Sorted it now, tried putting the monitor into a different socket on the back of the comp (right near the bottom - didn't used to be connected there!) And it works fine, cheers anyway to those who helped!
