Default My pc case modding

Hi all, i mentioned in my intro that i am in the middle of a few case mods in my intro so i decided to start a thread with some pictures of what i have done so far as there seemed to be a bit of interest from some members.

I started with just a simple window as pictured below, but soon got bored of just that.

I then decided to add a bit more to it and added 2 blue led fans with some nice bio hazard fan grills, i also added the logo from the other site that i help people out on.

Not satisfied with that, i then decided to cut the R that i use as my avatar into the top of my case.

It all needs a lot of filing and sanding as yet but it's getting there slowly.

I am also making my own reservoir which i will post pictures of as soon as i can.

I am also thinking of modifying my drive bays and also perhaps adding one or more fans to the front of my case, again i will post pictures when its all in place.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas i will welcome them.
If anyone needs advice for their own mod i will be happy to do what i can.

Looks really good.

How long you spent on it?

I cut the window about 8 months ago then left it. (I was living elsewhere and didn't have access to my pc)

I then started on it again about 10 days ago, doing it in my spare time tho.

It is a sill ongoing project and i think it will take a few weeks yet, i just hope it looks good at the end.

I have thought about the idea in the past, but its a lot of work and i really dont have the right equipment to do it on a large scale.

I do have 2 plain cases that i am thinking of modding up to "test the waters" with.

As for the blue, you havent seen the half of it yet (my cheap webcam isnt up to the task) I have 4 blue cathode tubes, 3 uv tubes, blue lit psu, blue leds lighting up my front panel, and the 2 blue led fans in the window.

I am thinking of either 2 or 4 blue led fans in the front, oh, i nearly forgot. My power and hdd activity leds are also blue.

Think theres a theme somewhere there??

I might try to do that.
How did you start off?

Not quite sure what you mean by that.

If you mean modding in general then I started many many years ago by modding my spectrum 48k my fitting a new cassette drive and painting it.

I mod anything that doesnt do what i want it to do.

I have modded my pc desk.
I have modded my pc amp and made my own speakers for it.
The list goes on and on...

I mean with the pc case. Did you just buy a metal rust bucket of a PC case, then do it from there?

Sorry, i got the wrong end of the stick there, doh!!

I swapped this case for a monitor i didn't use.

Its a full brushed aluminium case that was nice looking but a bit on the plain side.
It had no window and very little provision for cooling as i believe its original mobo from new was a P3.

I have a socket 754 mobo in it which generates a far bit more heat so it needed modding anyhow, I'm not complaining tho.

Just an update, the filing and sanding is taking forever and a day, it's the part of a mod i hate.
