I'm about to attempt to build a budget gaming rig. Below are the specs of the power supply and graphics card I have selected (the psu comes with the case). Can anyone tell me if the PSU can handle running this graphics card/cpu combo with 4gb of DDR2 system memory? I'm going to use an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz with this rig.

Specs on Rosewill Power supply :
-Proprietary IC & unique design
-Embedded thermal sensor
-Low-noise variable fan
-Various safety protection

OPP(over-power)

Connector:
1 x 20+4 pin MB connector
4 x Peripheral power connector
1 x Floppy power connector
1 x Serial ATA connector
1 x P4 connector

Output: 400W Max.
+3.3V 20A, +5V 14A, +12V1 14A, +12V2 13A, -12V 0.3A, +5VSB 2.5A

If i'm totally honest i don't like rosiwell power supplies either but thats not the point. Looking at those specs im supprised you havn't had any system power-downs. With only a 400W power supply unit i imagine its reaching near maximum load.

i would really think about upgrading your power supply before getting any other upgrades or playing any graphics intensive games because soon as your CPU and graphics reach a high enough load you ain't gonna have any power.

I have a 9600GT and a Pentium D820 OC to 3.2GHz which uses just as much power as your system. I have a Corsair HX Modular 620W PSU which when gaming hits around 75% load.

Upgrade your Power supply QUICK
Hope i helped at all...

"400W' is more than enough for a 9600GT or any other graphics card on the market save a dual-GPU card if it was 400W from a reputable brand. The issue is not wattage, it is product quality, please stop making posts just to brag about your own setup.

Again in this post i was mearly comparing our systems and coming to the conclusion that his power supply might not have enough power to supply his system under high loads.

Seriously Carbon how can you critisize my posts when your post was completely off topic and provided no advice what so ever so the thread starter. Your opinion was not relevant to this topic as i explained in my post that it was not the point.

Just another thread hijacked by trolls...

Trolls?!

Firstly, how old are you??!

Secondly, how about - Most hardware knowledgable guy on these forums, rather than "troll"

And I fail to see which of his post was off-topic.

#1 says the same as your first post in less words, and sums up what the OP could have readin Carbon's guide, or many other threads.

#2 explains that you are wrong, and that the wattage doesn't matter - or at least, not as much as people think.

I think it's you who's gone off-topic now, not Carbon.

loool ..your insane your post is plain nutty.May impress a teenager as a put down.

However.a troll and flamer (which you are) responds further ....by trolling some more....embarrasing.

1)I suggest you look up the definition Troll..its patently obvious you don't know...'the most knowledgable guy on the forum' is a troll (which can be gleened from reading his post).

2) crazy guy ok.....BEFORE i give reply in a thread asking for assistance,i will PM you my reply for your approval because your the man we all ask.

3) he say's so ....so it must be right...right? again i suggest you go do some googling for information on PSU's...he is quite wrong i assure you.

Sir do you live in your own world, where you can lie, flame, troll posters and refer to fictitious posts claiming content that just isn't there and expect everyone who reads the thread to not be able to read... perhaps your just mad as a hater (pun intended).

I'll try and dumb it down what everyone else reads the post as:

(post1)OP...asks a question that "can the PSU manage to supply his setup".Also giving a full list of as many details regarding his rig to ilicit a helpfull reply

(post2) Carbon ...."Rosewill PSUs are horrible."

(post 3) myself.... gave a hopefully helpfull well informed and correct answer. For his setup a 400w PSU is insufficient to run under load.

(post4) Carbon...makes a totally misinformed incorrect statement, then shows his only intent is attacking my post and continues to flame me .Disregarding the fact he has not offered an answer to the OP (thats 2 posts irelevant)

(post5) Ollie (thats you).....spams the thread

(post 6) Myself...gave explanation that highlighting my setup for comparison is to assist with a reply.

(post7) Ollie...posts another attack, strawman and just generally talks trash.

Now ... perhaps you can highlight where in post 2,4,5 and 7 is their any helpfull assistance or effort in answering the OP.Unless the world is mad and your the only sane person here...you won't be able to,there isn't any..devoid of relevance.

Now to suppress your ego because the forum members are laffing we all know what your about....its going to be resolved like this.Im not going to reply to this thread when ive hit 'submit'.

We are laffin cos you are daft enough to show yourself up further by continuing with another post that flames, attacks, spams me with complete disregard for the OP.

You sir are a troll.....your contribution to thread as been zilch "why did you post"?? please don't answer.

Its resolved to avoid further posts by you lying and twisting it back accusing me of flaming you...and i'll respond and then you and so forth..your daft mate

Btw as you asked me im a little cautious as to giving out too many details..don't want a stalker..

I'm 43..and i own and run a computer repair shop.

Don't see the relevance...but im too scared to give you my phone number.

Take care

Your profile says or said you're 16, and I believe that more because 43 year olds tend to accept when they're wrong. The OP asked whether his PSU was up to the task, I related that Rosewill PSUs are poor, you made a statement asserting that a "400W" PSU is somehow universally not enough, which is blatant disinformation, I corrected you on it. That's answering the OP's question.

Nobody is laughing but you and we're not buying your puppetmaster routine. I'm not going to continue to respond to anything but incorrect info (such as "With only a 400W power supply unit i imagine its reaching near maximum load. ") unless it is relevant to helping the OP: this isn't and it casts a poor light on the forum when people carry personal agendas around paired with inaccurate advice in the interest of forum e-cred.

e: definitely "says", you might want to edit that out before trying to get some semblance of authority by claiming you're 30 years older
