At least, I think it's my PSU. Symptoms as follows:
Refuses to turn on, but little green LED still active on motherboard.

The same thing's happened before, and it was the PSU in the past, so logically I've assumed that the same problem has occurred.

Can Juice diagnose it?

What do you advise? Do I take the poorly rig to see a professional and pay £25+ for the privilege of being told that is the PSU? Or do I simply lump it, buy a new PSU and hope for the best. I am on a timescale, unfortunately. I need my desktop back up and running by wednesday, latest.

I'm looking at getting a Corsair TX750w. Corsair tech is good and reliable, in my (granted somewhat limited) experience. The 750 should meet my supply needs with ample spare to allow for expansion, peak loading and such things. Any advice? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...odid=CA-011-CS

well its hard to tell but as the motherboard led is on it shows that the psu is outputting something so it may not be the psu. i had the same thing happen to me and the motherboard turned out to be dead but like i said its impossible to tell for sure without replacing parts. in my opinion it would be best to pay the £25 rather than buy a new psu only to discover that the old one was fine.

PSU's still output some power when blown all the time.

As the PC went fizz and now doesn't turn on replace the PSU, that is what a paid engineer will do anyway.

That's what happened last time, and it's the same motherboard. Thanks for the advice, Spencer and Hybrid. See you all soon when I get the Beast up and running again :)

BEFORE YOU BUY A PSU!

I would recommend the Thermaltake Toughpower 750W.

It's the one I have an it is AMAZING - cheaper too slightly. Loads of room for expansion, comes with plenty of connectors, rubber pad to keep it nice and quiet in the case, huge fan to keep it cool and it is VERY quiet.

Just my 2p.

Damn and blast your late response! Order placed, now! *sighs* Oh well. Could've used the modular connection setup, too... Teach me to buy before shopping around properly. Silly panda. Silly silly panda.

Infact you probably wouldn't have needed one that large, but it depends on your system, but as you've bought it now, it will be fine, and is a very good PSU. And from the sounds of it should fix your PC.

I know it's slightly oversized. My continual load is about 450W, though, peaking at over 500. I figured that a 50% window would allow for a monstrous peak load, or for plenty of expansion. F'rinstance, I'm looking at a second 8800GTX in an SLI setup, and the old PSU wouldn't have coped with that, wheras the new one will, with about a 100W window for things to go wrong.

Can you not cancel the order? Or just order the thermaltake and send the Corsair back when it arrives.

I would, but like I said, I'm on a timescale. If I dick around with the order (excuse language), it could well arrive later than tuesday. As it is, tuesday is pushing it, and if it arrives on wednesday, I'm scuppered.
