That's why people don't:

1. Buy no-name PSUs
2. Buy PSUs off eBay.

Return it if you can or cut your losses, it's dead.

Corsair 400CX shouldn't be too expensive, even over there.

Silly question maybe .... but your original post suggests you are new to building, you just have a Case & PSU and when plugged in and switched on, nothing happens ...... is that the situation ?

Yeh i am very new to building, yeh when i plug my psu in and switch it on the fans do not start, i have opened up the case and checked connections but i am very lost, lol. Also the fans in the case are plugged in but they seem to be receiving no power.

OK .... first off, without a motherboard fitted and the switch cable fitted to the motherboard, you wont see any signs of life ..... that would be normal.

The PSU has to be switched on to work, but you can test it by shorting the PS_ON and GND pins with a short piece of wire see here

No problem .... although I would consider Carbon's advice seriously.
All too often unbranded PSUs will blow and often take out other stuff with them.

Kick off with a good brand and you may well save yourself expensive repairs 6 months down the line
