I don't know if alex is talking from personal experience but personally I'd rather use a smaller company over a huge one.

Customer service tends to be better.

Do you think it would be a lot safer to buy a Dell rather than a custom build computer?

I'd rather use an independent builder like pcspecialist.

They are all custom builds, Dell is just a badge on the front, all the parts inside are sourced from the same places whoever you buy off.

A PC is a PC where ever you buy it, the only difference really apart from the spec and price is customer service.

Hey up, yes, I am talking from personal experience. I only ever make such comments if I've personal knowledge of the service provided from the vendor.

Anything else would be guesswork and that simply wouldn't be fair on the person asking the question.

It was a purchase a colleague was making, they didn't feel comfortable talking to the company purely because they're not very confident in talking about components etc.

I rang the company and from initial call to the build, to chasing the build (I say 'chasing' but it was purely to confirm lead-time) to delivery, confirming components (they offered advice on the cpu that would save some money) and install they were always on the end of the phone (I obviously couldn't be at my pal's house all the time).

He had a couple of problems and they sorted them quickly.

Service from start to finish was exemplary. The build was of a good quality, pricing was competitive.

If you're still unsure, they have feedback pages on their site with the email addresses of the people who have posted. So contact them.
